Three Injured After Car Accident in Fresno County

Three parties were injured and had to be extricated out of their mangled vehicles after a car accident in Fresno County on the afternoon of May 3, 2020. The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the area of Manning Avenue and Golden State Boulevard in Fowler, CA, according to Fresno County Fire. Several vehicles were pinned in after a collision, and crews extricated three people from their cars. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of moderate injuries. Details, including the sequence of events leading up to the incident and the conditions of the injured parties, were not immediately available.

Will Auto Insurance Cover a Multi-Vehicle Accident?

In California, drivers are required to carry liability insurance. The state minimum coverage is $15,000 per person or $30,000 if more than one party is injured. In other words, if a multi-vehicle accident is caused by one driver and multiple people are injured as a result, there is only $30,000 available for those injured parties. This can create a financial predicament for those involved, especially if their losses are higher than the policy limits, which have to be divided fairly among the other injured parties. However, there may be a solution to this issue. If the injured party carries uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM), the UIM portion of their insurance policy may be used to help supplement any losses not fully covered by the other driver. For instance, if the injured person has $100,000 in UIM coverage and the other driver has a state minimum policy, the injured party’s insurance company would be financially liable for the remaining $85,000. What Type of Compensation Will I Get After a Car Accident?

  • Costs of past and future medical treatment
  • Lost wages for time they were unable to work to recover from accident-related injuries or attend doctor appointments
  • Diminished future earnings due to permanent injury or disability
  • Mental anguish and emotional distress
  • Permanent scarring or disfigurement
  • Pain and suffering
  • Property damage, for the costs of vehicle repairs or replacement
