One Killed, Three Injured in Suspected DUI Head-On Collision North of Woodland

One individual killed and three other were injured in suspected DUI head-on collision North of Woodland.

A fatal head-on collision north of Woodland claimed one life and left three others seriously injured late Sunday night, November 9, 2025, marking the second deadly crash in two weeks along the same stretch of County Road 102.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Woodland office, officers responded around 10:20 p.m. to reports of a two-vehicle crash just south of County Road 16. Investigators determined that a southbound Acura crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a northbound Hyundai.

A passenger in the Acura was pronounced dead at the scene. The Acura’s driver, another Acura passenger, and the Hyundai driver sustained major injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

CHP officials said that alcohol or drugs may have been contributing factors in the crash, though the incident remains under active investigation. The roadway was temporarily closed overnight as emergency crews assisted victims and cleared the wreckage.

Staying Safe: Avoiding Head-On Collisions and Impaired Driving

Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of collisions, often resulting in catastrophic injuries or fatalities due to the combined force of impact. Drivers can reduce their risk by:

  • Never driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Remaining alert and avoiding distractions that can lead to lane drift.
  • Slowing down on rural or two-lane roads where crossovers are more likely.
  • Using headlights and maintaining safe visibility during night driving.
