Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Illegal Street Racing
In January, a racer was sentenced to 12 years in prison after killing two spectators during a 2015 illegal street race in Chatsworth, California. The racer was charged with murder and is now doing time.
One would think that the Chatsworth incident would send a strong message to any driver considering or currently participating in illegal street racing. For spectators who like to attend illegal races, this case illustrates how deadly they can become for the spectators involved.
June 13, 2016 Drag Racing Crash in Stockton Results in Death
One man died and two others were seriously injured during a drag racing crash on the morning of June 13, 2016.
The Stockton drag racing crash involved male victims in their early twenties.
The cars crashed around 1:00 a.m. along Marantha Drive in the vicinity of Bryant Drive in Stockton. They were travelling at a high rate of speed — apparently racing each other — when things went terribly wrong. According to investigators with the Stockton Police Department, preliminary evidence suggests that alcohol was involved in this tragedy.
