Stockton Double Fatality Accident

A woman was driving her vehicle with four passengers in Stockton on Thursday, July 6, 2017. The woman allegedly lost control of her vehicle, which resulted in a tragic fatal single vehicle accident.

What Happened?

A 39-year-old woman was driving her 2006 Chrysler Town and County minivan in the southbound lane of Interstate 5 near Eight Mile Road at about 2:00 pm. The woman was traveling in the No. 2 lane at approximately 70 mph and switched into the No. 1 lane. The vehicle spun out of control which caused it to overturn near the center divider and No. 1 lane. The impact caused clothes and shattered glass from the car to scatter on the pavement. There were no other vehicles involved in the collision.

What Caused the Accident?

The cause of the accident has not yet been released by investigators. Authorities generally take up to two weeks to process a Traffic Collision Report. Traffic reports may sometimes contain errors or be inconclusive when determining fault. It is vital, especially when an accident victim has passed away, to speak with an experienced accident lawyer who can study the accident scene and sequence of events leading up to the crash to help pinpoint a cause.

A witness did report that he observed that one of the tires on the driver’s side of the minivan had blown out. The witness recalls the vehicle fishtailing and coming to a stop after rolling over twice.

Was Anybody Injured?

There were five occupants in the Chrysler minivan at the time of  the crash. Investigators have not yet released information regarding the conditions of three occupants in the van. The other two occupants in the vehicle were identified as a grandmother and a granddaughter. Unfortunately, the collision caused the grandmother and her granddaughter to pass away.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the loved ones of the two victims that passed away in this tragic accident. We extend our wishes for a speedy and full recovery to the others hurt in the crash.

Young Life Forever Remembered

The 16-year-old girl that passed away in the accident was a student of Bear Creek High School in Stockton. She was a hard working student that was dedicated to her studies and her favorite sport, basketball. A GoFundMe page has been set up by the mother of the girl to cover for the expenses of her funeral.
