Stockton Carjacking

I’m Ed Smith, a Stockton Auto Accident Attorney. When police are patrolling, they sometimes need to talk with individuals who might want to avoid contact and who then flee the scene. These fleeing actions can cause serious traffic collisions. On April 13, 2016, Stockton authorities investigated an attempted carjacking and kidnapping and the death of the alleged perpetrator.

What Happened?

Officers from the Stockton Police Department were in the area of West Lane and Knickerbocker Drive on patrol. They approached three men who fled as soon as they saw police. One of the men hopped into a vehicle that was traveling through the listed intersection. A woman was driving the car, but she did not appear to know the man, and they think that he was attempting a carjacking and kidnapping. They pulled out their weapons in an effort to protect her.

Was Anyone Injured?

One of the officers reported that he could see the two individuals struggle. He explained that the officers hit the subject with their weapons and were able to free the woman. One of the subjects was killed while the other two men fled the scene. No officers were injured in the process.
