Speeding Suspected in Brentwood Crash

Excessive speeding is being suspected as a potential contributing factor in a recent rollover car crash over the weekend in Brentwood, according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer. The accident took place in the morning on Saturday, April 11, in an unincorporated Brentwood region. The male driver of the overturned vehicle was driving alone at the time of the crash and no other cars or people were involved. The driver was taken to a medical center to be evaluated for his injuries. No update was available on his condition.

Brentwood Rollover Crash Details

Emergency responders were dispatched to a single-car accident along Marsh Creek Road in unincorporated Brentwood at approximately 9:20 a.m. that Saturday. One of the CHP officers investigating the incident stated that a black Pontiac G6 was driving west when the driver lost control of the car. The Pontiac proceeded to veer off the road roughly one half-mile east of Deer Valley Road. An attempt to get back on the roadway caused the driver to overcorrect and then run into the shoulder for the second time, with enough force to overturn the vehicle in one full rotation before it settled upright in the westward lane. The driver was miraculously able to flip the car around and pull the extensively damaged car to the side of the road in the eastbound shoulder. He was able to remove himself from the vehicle.

A conservation officer from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife happened to be present at the time of the crash and was able to provide some assistance. Emergency response crews that arrived at the accident site included CHP, Cal Fire, AMR, and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District. Initially, a medical helicopter was requested for the injured male, however, the request was canceled after paramedics made the decision to transfer the patient by ground. The driver, whose name and age has not been identified, was taken via ambulance to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. His injuries were reported to be moderate at the time of his transfer.

The accident is still undergoing investigation by the California Highway Patrol. This was the 2nd single-vehicle rollover accident reported in Brentwood in one week, with the two accidents being only days apart.
