South Sacramento Fatal Pedestrian Accident
Authorities are investigating a pedestrian accident in South Sacramento during the evening hours of Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Sadly, the pedestrian involved in the accident suffered fatal injuries.
What Happened?
A pedestrian was walking along 14th Avenue in South Sacramento. The pedestrian decided to cross 14th Avenue. At the same time, a sport utility vehicle was traveling eastbound along 14th Avenue from Stockton Boulevard. Unfortunately, the SUV driver could not avoid the pedestrian crossing the street and crashed into the pedestrian.
What Caused the Pedestrian Accident?
Investigators have not yet released the cause of the pedestrian accident. Sergeant Bryce Heinlein, a spokesman from the Sacramento Police Department, did indicate that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. The SUV driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
Pedestrian Suffers Fatal Injuries
When authorities arrived at the scene of the pedestrian accident, they discovered the pedestrian had severe injuries. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital, where he later passed away. The pedestrian’s identity has not been released due to pending notification of the family.
