South Lake Tahoe Injury Collision

I’m Ed Smith, a South Lake Tahoe personal injury lawyer. On Saturday, May 27, 2017, a multiple vehicle collision in South Lake Tahoe led to traumatic injuries and hospitalization of an occupant of one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Accident Details

The accident occurred sometime in the late afternoon at the intersection of Park Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard close to the California/Nevada border when a gray Ford pickup truck and a gray sedan of unreported make and model collided, causing major damage to the front end of the pickup truck and flipping the sedan on its side.

Emergency Response

Officers of the South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident shortly after it occurred. Firemen found that only one person had been injured in the collision. An ambulance from the El Dorado County Emergency Medical Service transported the victim to the nearest hospital to treat their injuries.

The specific injuries of the victim were not reported.

Cause of the Accident

The SLTPD has not stated whether or not they believe the accident to have been caused by driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. While an investigation into the incident is ongoing, possible causal factors of the accident include reckless driving, speeding, defective roadways, driving while distracted, DUI, and more.

Recent South Lake Tahoe Accidents

This car crash had happened only a few short weeks after another accident in South Lake Tahoe which occurred at about 3:23 on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The collision occurred on Highway 89 a few miles north of Cascade Lake and involved a large white pickup truck and a dark blue minivan. Three people were injured in the accident and taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital.

Another recent accident happened earlier in the year when a male resident of Carson City was killed in an accident on the highway just outside of South Lake Tahoe. The accident occurred on February 1, 2017, at around 4:30 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Carson City man had been driving north on State Road 89 in a Ford F-150 and drifted toward the right of the highway, eventually driving into the shoulder. After drifting, the driver attempted to return to the road, but overcorrected and drove his vehicle into the oncoming lane, crashing into a Chevrolet truck and involving a Subaru in the accident as well.

Lake Tahoe Boulevard

According to information gathered by researchers at UC Berkeley over the past five years, Lake Tahoe Boulevard is one of the most dangerous roads in South Lake Tahoe. While driving it, residents and visitors should keep this in mind and watch the road, as well as other drivers, closely and attentively.
