Six Vehicles Involved in Eureka Hit-and-Run Incident

On Friday, July 10, 2020, a Eureka hit-and-run accident left multiple people with injuries. According to information reported by California Highway Patrol (CHP), a vehicle involved in the crash drove away from the scene directly after it took place. Officers are reportedly still searching for the missing vehicle and motorist.

Crash Details

The collision occurred at around 5:00 p.m. on Highway 101 just north of Eureka. Police indicated that a black BMW was driving recklessly northbound on the highway when the driver lost control. After the driver lost control, the BMW spun out and traveled off the road. No vehicles collided with the BMW, but multiple drivers made collision avoidance maneuvers. As a result, five other vehicles collided with each other in a pile-up. After this, the BMW sped away from the scene.

Response

Emergency officials were ordered to the crash scene directly after CHP received a call about the incident. When they reached the site, responders discovered that multiple people had suffered injuries. According to medical responders, one driver suffered major injuries, and another received minor trauma. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital via ground ambulance to be given treatment and further evaluation. Photos of the accident show multiple vehicles with major damage, including a white sedan with its rear-end almost entirely ripped off.

Investigation

The northbound side of Highway 101 was closed off while officials responded to the incident and police investigated evidence at the scene. As officers continue to look for the hit-and-run driver, CHP has asked anybody with information about the accident or location of the driver to call (707) 822-5981 in order to help with the investigation. Officers noted that any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hit-and-Run Accidents

Hit-and-run accidents can be stressful. With normal vehicle accidents, it’s usually possible to hold at-fault drivers financially responsible for damages. However, if this driver can’t be located, crash survivors worry that they won’t be able to obtain the compensation that they need for medical expenses, lost income, and other damages.

While hit-and-run drivers are often found, survivors may be able to obtain compensation even if the motorist can’t be located. This can be accomplished by using a part of your insurance policy called “underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage.” However, not every insurance policy includes this coverage, and the amount of compensation available can vary widely. Furthermore, insurers may not offer the full amount of payment that you actually deserve. For this reason, it’s very important to have a lawyer on your side to help you recover financially after a serious accident.

Finding a Good Injury Lawyer

Crash injuries can be life-changing, and having a lawyer you know that you can trust with your case is critical. Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to get in touch with an excellent lawyer if you know how to research attorneys online. Learn more about this process by watching this video:
