U.S. 50 Multiple-Vehicle Crash Near Watt Avenue Off-Ramp

A multiple-vehicle crash happened along the westbound U.S. 50 in Sacramento on September 5 that required a SigAlert and left some of the vehicles’ occupants lying in the lanes. The accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as occurring at around 9:37 in the morning along the highway at the Watt Avenue off-ramp. Vehicles involved in the crash blocked three lanes of traffic. It was complicated by a light pole that had been struck by one of the vehicles and came down with exposed wires necessitating a call to Caltrans.

Most of the Highway Traffic Lanes Blocked by Accident

One vehicle, a white Chevy SUV with a wrap on it, overturned onto its side, and Animal Control was called to retrieve a dog that had been riding in the vehicle. The spouse of the driver called and came to pick the animal up instead. A 1950s pickup involved in the crash ended up facing the wrong direction in lane number two.

Multiple People Lying in the Lanes Following Accident

People were reported as lying in the number two and number four lanes, including a pregnant woman in the number three lane. However, no information was released on the number of injuries in the accident or whether anyone was hospitalized as a result of the multiple-vehicle crash.

Multiple-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation to Determine Cause

A SigAlert was issued shortly after 10:00 a.m., warning that Highway 50 westbound at Watt Avenue had the left three lanes blocked due to a collision with no estimated time of reopening. Detours were provided. The SigAlert was canceled, and the road reopened around 10:40 a.m. The accident is being investigated by the CHP to determine which driver was responsible for the multiple-vehicle crash and how it occurred.

Seeking Help Following a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

When someone suffers an injury in a multiple-vehicle accident, negligence by another party/parties has to be proven in order for them to place a claim for compensation. An injury attorney experienced in handling cases involving multiple vehicles can investigate the accident and collect the evidence needed to support a client’s claim.

We have successfully handled many claims involving accidents with multiple vehicles and may be able to help you too. Investigation to collect evidence is key in proving an injury claim. Our investigative team performs the following to obtain that needed evidence:

  • The police report is reviewed to look for any mistakes. This is because errors could potentially affect a client’s compensation claim.
  • Area surveillance cameras are examined to see if the accident was captured on film.
  • The investigators interview the witnesses to the accident. In some cases, a witness taped the accident as it happened, which helps to determine liability.
  • Accident reconstruction at the site where it happened is conducted, which is evidence widely accepted by insurance companies and in civil court.

Our injury attorneys go to work using this evidence to build a strong claim that supports our client’s case.
