Injuries Reported in 5th Street Sacramento Ambulance Crash

A Sacramento ambulance crash with a motor vehicle resulted in injuries that occurred downtown on April 26. The ambulance was on call at the time with their lights and sirens on as they headed to a medical emergency at the jail.

Injured Woman Hospitalized After Sacramento Ambulance Crash

A woman in the vehicle that collided with the ambulance was seriously injured. Firefighters had to extricate her from her car. She was transported to a hospital for medical care and further evaluation. A paramedic in the ambulance suffered minor trauma. Sacramento police are conducting an investigation into how the collision happened.

Liability in a Sacramento Ambulance Crash

Under CA Vehicle Code section 17004, public employees cannot be held liable if an ambulance injury crash occurs and they are out on an emergency call. However, they are still required to drive in a safe manner. At times when the sirens and lights are not being used, the driver must exercise the caution that other motorists are expected to. Because the circumstances of the accident may dictate whether or not an injury claim can be filed in a Sacramento ambulance crash, getting the advice and assistance of an injury lawyer is important.

Placing a Claim Against a Government Entity

Personal injury claims against a government entity have a different timeline in which to file than most others. You have only six months to file your claim when a government entity is involved. If you miss that deadline, then the court will refuse to hear your case. By getting help from an accident lawyer, you can ensure the paperwork is correctly filled out and directed, which can make a difference in whether or not you receive the compensation you deserve.

Your Lawyer Will Conduct an Accident Investigation

Your lawyer investigates an accident to determine fault. Once it has been established that the other driver caused the collision, they send their investigators out to collect the evidence that supports their client’s claim. The evidence is compiled into a compelling argument for the recovery of compensation.

Handling Negotiations to Settle Your Compensation Claim

Your lawyer can negotiate with the at-fault party’s insurance company for you. By knowing your case is in good hands, you can concentrate on recovering from your injuries. If the at-fault party’s insurance company does not offer a fair settlement, the lawyer can take your case to civil court where it will be decided.
