Shasta Lake Motorcycle Accident Sends One to Hospital

I’m Ed Smith, a Shasta Lake motorcycle accident lawyer. On the morning of Friday, September 29, a man suffered major injuries in a motorcycle accident in Shasta County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Details

According to a report from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred around 12:30am on Friday morning. The motorcycle was being ridden by a 35-year-old man from the City of Shasta Lake. The accident happened on the off-ramp from Interstate 5 to Shasta Dam Boulevard. The CHP said that the rider was traveling south on the highway when his bike went off the road, ejecting him. The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to the Mercy Medical Center.

Possible Motorcycle Accident Causes

Since this accident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, no cause has been released. Below you will find some possible motorcycle accident causes that could have played a role in this Shasta Lake crash.

Animal in the Road

A collision with an animal in the road is a common cause of motorcycle accidents in the state of California. Farming and animal breeding are still popular throughout the state, which leads to higher animal populations. With the quick development of roads throughout the state, a combination such as this can be very tragic. Some animals are much heavier and larger than motorcycles, such as cows. An accident with a cow can lead to tragic consequences.

Motorcycle Defects

Defects in the parts of a motorcycle can also lead to a motorcycle accident. Whether a part fell off the bike while in motion or a part stopped working, either one of these can create a serious problem on the roads of California for motorcycle riders. Defective parts can lead to crashes involving major injuries or even death.

Hit and Run Driver

A hit and run driver is another possible cause of this motorcycle accident. Since there were no other vehicles at the scene the investigating officers will need to look at any damage to the motorcycle as well as evidence found at the scene of the crash. Hit and run accidents are incredibly dangerous but can be even more tragic for motorcycle riders since they have no protection from the other vehicle.

Road Defects

Aside from motorcycle defects, road defects can also play a role in motorcycle crashes. Missing guardrails, narrow lanes, road construction debris, large potholes, intersections with obstructed views, poor merge lanes, and many other issues can lead to motorcycle accidents in California.

Possible Injuries:

Injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident can be debilitating and include a high risk of broken bones, spinal cord injuries and nerve damage. You could face months of rehabilitation, therapy (both physical and emotional), missed time at work, costly medical bills and a burdensome financial situation. It is important to contact an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer to discuss the specifics of your case.
