Sacramento Vehicle Spinout on SR 99

Sacramento Vehicle Spinout on SR 99

A Sacramento vehicle spinout along State Route 99 during rush hour traffic on January 12 caused an injury to at least one person. The accident involved three vehicles, a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban, a Buick Regal and a black sedan. The Sacramento car accident blocked three lanes of the traffic heading northbound. A caller reported the Tahoe as having spun out, after which it struck the center divider and could not be moved. The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the center divide was reported as injured, and paramedics transported them to a hospital for unknown injuries. It is unclear how the other vehicles became involved in the Sacramento vehicle spin out.

Details of the Sacramento Vehicle Spinout

The accident occurred at around 9:00 in the morning just north of the 12th Avenue onramp, affecting local commuter traffic. The auto accident investigation is being handled by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to determine how the crash happened. It has not been reported whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Spinouts and How to Avoid Them

Slick roads, whether caused by rain, ice or snow, contribute to a high number of spinouts. The most common cause of a Sacramento vehicle spinout is that the back wheels are moving more slowly than those in front. Oversteering and over braking can also cause spinouts. However, driver negligence such as speeding and distracted driving can cause this dangerous condition and result in multiple vehicle crashes.

  • In inclement weather, check that your windshield wipers are in good condition. A driver is more likely to spin out if they can’t see well out the windshield.
  • If it’s icy, clean all the ice or frost off all the windows, reflectors and lights. This gives the driver a good view of what is surrounding the vehicle and lets other drivers spot your car, avoiding a spinout accident.
  • Check if your car will skid when you first start out on the road. Do this by braking and accelerating slowly to check how the vehicle’s wheels are spinning.
  • Avoid fast acceleration and brake gently when on the road and going around curves.
  • If the rear of the vehicle starts to slide, remove your foot from the accelerator, and turn toward the direction of the skid, but do it gently. Oversteering is a significant problem that can result in a hydroplaning or spinout accident.

Advice From an Experienced Car Accident Injury Attorney

When someone else’s negligence causes accident injuries, the injured person may be able to place a claim for the cost of medical treatment, lost wages and other expenses associated with the collision. A Sacramento personal injury lawyer can help by examining all the case evidence, conducting an independent investigation of the fact surrounding the incident, including crash reconstruction, to determine how the accident occurred and who was really at fault. By dealing with the insurance company on behalf of a client and building a strong case against the negligent party, the injured person may recover the compensation that they need and deserve for their injuries, including pain and suffering they have endured
