Collision During Rush Hour Results in Minor Injuries

A two-vehicle collision that resulted in minor injuries occurred in Sacramento on November 29 during rush hour on SR 99. The accident happened around 8:36 a.m. along the northbound side of the highway near the eastbound Mack Road on-ramp. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that it involved a Toyota Land Cruiser and Hyundai Tucson and blocked all three lanes.

Traffic Backed up on Highway Due to Two-Vehicle Collision

Traffic along the highway was reported as backed up due to the two-vehicle collision. Minor injuries were reported by medics with the Sacramento Fire Department in the collision, however, all parties refused transport to a hospital. An investigation is underway by the CHP to determine how the two-vehicle collision occurred.

Reasons Why a Two-Vehicle Collision on the Highway Occurs

Most accidents occur because of negligence by one or more drivers. When that happens and injuries occur, the injured party can place a claim against the at-fault driver for compensation to recover their medical expenses and other losses. Some of the reasons a two-vehicle collision on a highway happens are:

  • Distracted driving is one of the main reasons for a two-vehicle collision. The driver may be texting or chatting on the phone, eating and drinking while driving, or performing other activities.
  • Drunk driving is still a major problem along California highways. A drunk driver has problems staying in their lane, may speed up and slow down, and can’t judge their distance from other vehicles.
  • Speeding is a major contributor to all types of traffic accidents. When a driver is speeding, they are more likely to lose control of their vehicle and require a longer stopping distance if an emergency arises.
  • Fatigued driving that leads to an accident can happen at any time but is more likely to occur in the afternoons and late at night. The fatigued driver reacts in similar ways to someone who is inebriated, which makes them a danger on the roadway.
  • Failure to yield the right of way is a common cause of a two-vehicle collision on the highway, especially near the entrance and exit ramps.
  • Changing lanes in a risky manner can lead to a two-vehicle collision. These types of accidents often happen because the driver didn’t use their turn signal.

How Our Law Firm Can Help

Over the years, the injury lawyers at AutoAccident.com have successfully helped many people in obtaining fair compensation after they’ve been injured by someone else’s negligent actions. Part of our service is determining the cause of the accident, which includes:

  • Our investigators go to the accident scene to gather the evidence before it disappears.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed, which can indicate which driver was at fault. This type of evidence is used by insurance companies and in court cases.
  • The police report is examined to assure its accuracy because mistakes can affect a client’s capability to place a claim.
  • Witnesses to the two-vehicle collision are interviewed. In some cases, the accident was captured by someone’s cell phone as it happened.
  • Area traffic cameras are checked to see if the two-vehicle collision was caught on tape.
