Sacramento Traffic Collision

Sacramento Traffic Collision – A Sacramento multi-traffic collision along Interstate 80 on September 17, 2018, resulted in injuries and major damage to at least one vehicle that was involved. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), two of the cars involved in the crash were undrivable and had to be removed by tow trucks from the site. The CHP will be investigating the collision to determine fault and has not reported whether alcohol or drugs was involved.

Sacramento Traffic Collision Details

The accident, involving four vehicles, happened at I-80 eastbound just west of Elkhorn Boulevard in North Sacramento shortly after 4:00 p.m. The vehicles in the crash were described as a Ford Fusion, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and an unnamed make of minivan. The fast lane and lane two were blocked by the accident. However, no SigAlert was issued because all of the involved vehicles were removed to the center divider in a short time. Sac Fire, along with EMTs, were called to the Sacramento traffic collision site to help deal with injuries. One car was described as having major front-end and rear-end damage. It is unknown at this time how serious the injuries were in the collision and whether any of the individuals involved were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Sacramento Traffic Collision Statistics

Motor vehicle accidents are a continuous problem around the country, including California. The number of accident injuries and fatalities are compiled and reported by the California Office of Traffic Safety, which includes both cities and counties. The numbers for cities are ranked against other similarly sized towns. In 2015, 4,502 people were harmed or killed in a Sacramento traffic collision. Throughout the county, the number was 11,710 individuals who were either killed or injured.

Multiple Vehicles in a Sacramento Traffic Collision

Multiple vehicle collisions can be more dangerous than many other types of car accidents. This is because a vehicle that is involved can be struck multiple times in different directions. Of course, since the airbag inflated with the first collision, it provides no protection for additional ones. Rollovers also occur in multiple-vehicle crashes when a car is broadsided at high speed. A seasoned car accident lawyer can help by examining all the evidence and using crash reconstruction and expert witnesses. By showing how the accident happened and in what order, the lawyer can build a case for compensation to pay for injuries and other expenses.

Comparative Fault

Accurately proving comparative fault in a collision makes a difference in how much compensation is awarded to each person in a multiple vehicle collision. For example, if one driver is found 40 percent at fault, he or she can still collect 60 percent of an award from other negligent motorists. If no fault is found in a vehicle that is in a collision with other cars, the amount compensated would be 100 percent.
