Three People Ejected in Solo Vehicle Accident on West Side Freeway

A solo vehicle accident on August 5 caused significant injuries to three people. The accident happened on the northbound West Side Freeway at about 7:30 p.m. near Sutterville Road. A California Highway Patrol (CHP) report said the vehicle caught on fire after it crashed.

Solo Vehicle Accident Under Investigation to Determine Cause

The three people inside the vehicle were all ejected. Three lanes of the highway remained blocked as the site was cleared, and an investigation was conducted by CHP traffic accident investigators. The three people who suffered injuries were transported to hospitals for treatment. Impairment has not yet been ruled out as contributing to the crash.

Holding the Driver Responsible for Injuries in a Solo Vehicle Accident

When a solo vehicle collision occurs, the driver may still be held accountable for any injuries passengers suffer. If the driver fails to exercise reasonable care and an injury occurs, they may be liable for damages. Regarding solo vehicle crashes, liability often depends on whether the driver was negligent in the vehicle’s operation or if the car malfunctioned due to a manufacturing defect. Retaining the vehicle is essential, so it can be examined for defects. Should one be found that led to the collision, an auto product liability claim can be placed to recover compensation.

Determining a Driver’s Negligence When Passengers Are Injured in a Crash

In a solo vehicle accident, lawyers must carefully review the facts to determine if the driver’s negligent actions led to the crash. Factors they consider include whether the driver was driving too fast for the conditions, distracted or impaired by drugs or alcohol, failed to follow traffic laws, or failed to take reasonable steps to avoid an accident.
