Watt Avenue Hit-and-Run Injures Pedestrian

A pedestrian injury caused by a hit and run was reported in the Sacramento area on October 30, and that person was transported to a nearby hospital. The accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as occurring in the Arden-Arcade area sometime before 10:00 p.m. at Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard. Medics with Sacramento Metro Fire were on hand to assess the pedestrian’s injuries.

Further Details of Pedestrian Injury Accident

The pedestrian was transferred to a different ambulance for hospital transport. The incident is under investigation by the CHP to locate the hit-and-run driver and determine how the accident happened. However, it was reported that the vehicle suspected of striking the walker continued north along Watt Avenue following the collision. Details on the injured pedestrian have not been released by authorities.

Pedestrian Injuries

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable when it comes to injuries or fatalities from a collision with a motor vehicle. Because insurance companies are in business to make money, they will do everything in their power to make it appear as though the person on foot was at fault. This is why you need an injury lawyer by your side who can root out the real cause of the accident and obtain the compensation that you deserve.

Our lawyers fight for your compensation. By gathering needed evidence, our clients can obtain the damages necessary to cover their medical costs, wages that were lost because they couldn’t work, and for their pain and suffering. Phone us today to see how we can help you.

Hit-and-Run Collisions

Hit-and-runs have become common around Sacramento County as they are elsewhere in the nation. Drivers have various reasons for leaving the scene of an accident, however, the most common are:

  • The driver does not want to be held responsible for the pedestrian injury accident.
  • A driver has unpaid tickets and other offenses against them.
  • The driver is uninsured or underinsured.
  • The motorist has been drinking or using drugs and could face criminal charges.

Evidence in a Hit-and-Run

Oftentimes, a driver that flees the scene of a pedestrian injury accident leaves behind evidence that can lead to their vehicle. Our law office has a good record of locating fleeing drivers. When they are identified, an injured person can make a claim against their insurance company or take the case to court with the help of an injury lawyer. Some of the ways our experienced investigators gather this evidence is as follows:

  • In some cases, eyewitnesses to the accident or the injured pedestrian can give a description of the vehicle or even the driver.
  • Damage to the vehicle itself may leave behind traces in the form of paint smears, tire tracks, broken pieces of metal and others that can pinpoint the make and model.
  • Traffic and other road surveillance cameras might have filmed the pedestrian injury accident as it happened.
  • Accident reconstruction can be useful in identifying how a pedestrian injury occurred and show fault by the driver.
  • Government negligence in the form of a malfunctioning traffic light or other problems can contribute to an injury accident. In cases of this type, the entity in charge of maintenance can be held accountable for a pedestrian injury.

Our experienced lawyers use the evidence gathered by our investigators to construct a case that benefits our client. It can be used during negotiations with the insurance company or presented in civil court.

Insurance Coverage to Pay for Injuries

Drivers who carry uninsured/underinsured coverage can have their injury expenses paid by using this optional policy. It is offered to all drivers when they elect to take automobile insurance. If the driver does not have this optional insurance and another household member does, that policy can be used. It does not affect the rate in the future.
