Accident on Woodside Lane Involves Fleeing Driver

A hit-and-run with injuries was reported in Sacramento on May 2. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the accident as occurring at around 11:04 a.m. on Woodside Lane between Northrop Avenue and Sierra Boulevard. The vehicle involved was found pulled over to the right-hand side, and glass debris was strewn across the roadway.

Hit-and-Run Driver Sought After Injury Accident

Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders were called to the scene when it was discovered that the female driver had suffered injuries. The accident is under investigation by the CHP to find the fleeing driver and determine how the collision occurred.

Holding At-Fault Drivers Responsible

The injury lawyers at AutoAccident.com all agreed that being harmed by someone else’s negligent actions is unfair. This is why the lawyers and staff work so hard to get our clients the compensation they deserve. Suffering an injury is bad enough. Being responsible for the financial cost of those injuries should not fall on the injured party.

Finding a Fugitive Driver After a Hit-and-Run

It is essential to find a fleeing driver participating in a motor vehicle accident in order to file an insurance claim or a lawsuit in civil court. Getting back on your feet after being in a car accident is not easy. A responsible party reimburses those they injured for their pain and suffering, lost wages and medical expenses that they incur as the result of an accident. When a driver flees after a collision, we have often been able to track him/her down. Drivers who hit and run can be detected in a number of ways, including:

  • To begin gathering evidence, our investigators start at the accident site. Photographs are taken along with an examination of the scene for paint marks and metal debris. Since these items are specific to certain models and years, they can serve as an indication of a vehicle’s manufacturer.
  • Police accident reports are examined during an investigation to verify that the details given are accurate. If the report is inaccurate, the client’s claim may not be valid.
  • During the investigation, traffic cameras are examined to determine if the accident was recorded on film. It may be possible to identify the vehicle responsible for the accident and determine how the collision happened with that video footage.
  • The investigators interview witnesses to the accident. Some witnesses may be able to provide information about the vehicle that fled. Onlookers may also recognize the driver. Furthermore, witnesses have recorded the accident on their cell phones while the collision was happening in some cases.
  • It is possible to determine who caused the crash by performing accident reconstruction. This forensic evidence indicates the locations of the vehicles before the hit-and-run took place and how it happened.

As our injury lawyers build a case to support our client’s compensation claim, they will use the evidence to prove fault by the negligent party.

Using Your Insurance Coverage to Pay for Your Accident Injuries

In the case of uninsured/underinsured motorists, the injured party may be eligible to collect compensation from their own insurance policy. Drivers in California can choose this optional coverage when purchasing auto insurance. If another family member has this policy, it can be used instead if the injured party doesn’t carry it themself. Future rates are not affected.
