Elsie Avenue Accident Involves Hit-and-Run Driver

A hit-and-run with injuries was reported in Sacramento on March 31 as the result of a three-vehicle collision. The accident occurred along westbound Elsie Avenue at Mack Road around 6:15 p.m., as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Vehicles mentioned as involved included a Nissan pickup, an SUV, and a sedan.

Hit-and-Run Driver Sought After Three-Vehicle Accident

The accident blocked the number one lane along Elsie Avenue. First responders were called to the scene when one person involved in the crash complained of chest pain. No report was issued on whether that person was hospitalized. The hit-and-run crash is being investigated to find out how it occurred and to locate the fleeing driver.

Injuries Caused by a Hit-and-Run Motorist

It is difficult enough to face an accident that caused your injuries without having the responsible party flee the scene. When a driver refuses to accept their responsibility for an accident, it leaves the injured party not only facing the trauma but having to pay for their own losses. With the high cost of medical care and potential lack of wages because of the inability to work, this can amount to a large sum.

Tracking Down a Hit-and-Run Driver

It is important to track down drivers who flee the scene of an accident so injured parties can assert their legal rights to compensation and justice. When another party’s negligence causes an accident, the recovery process can be difficult. Hospitalization can result, as can lost wages and permanent disability. Medical bills, lost wages, as well as pain and suffering resulting from an accident should be paid by the responsible party. Our team has been successful in tracking down drivers who fled the scene of an accident in many cases. It is possible to locate a fleeing driver in a variety of ways, including:

  • As soon as our investigators reach the accident site, they begin collecting evidence. In addition to taking photos of the scene, they examine it for paint marks and metal fragments. Since those items are specific to certain years and manufacturers, they are useful for identifying a vehicle’s make and model.
  • Traffic surveillance cameras are checked to see if the hit-and-run accident was recorded. It may be possible to identify the vehicle at fault and prove what caused the accident based on camera footage.
  • The investigators verify the accuracy of the police report during the investigation. If there is an error, the client’s claim may be affected.
  • By performing accident reconstruction, it can reveal who was at fault for the collision.
  • The investigators will speak with any witnesses to the accident. Vehicles that fled the scene are often described by witnesses. They may even be able to identify the driver in some cases. Finally, it is possible that a witness recorded the accident from the sidelines.

The evidence gathered by our investigators helps our injury lawyers construct a strong case to support our client’s compensation claim.

Insurers Can Pay for Accident-Related Injuries

The at-fault driver may not have insurance and be unable to pay for the accident injuries even if they can be found. An injured person can file a claim through his or her uninsured/underinsured coverage if their trauma was caused in this way. Automobile insurance companies in California offer this add-on coverage to all their policyholders. Another option is to use the insurance of another immediate family member if the injured person does not carry up to the policy. The premiums will remain the same. However, having an injury lawyer arbitrate your claim can help you obtain better compensation to ensure all your losses are covered.
