The Sacramento Police Department will have a driver’s license and sobriety checkpoint set up this evening in Sacramento.

What Time Will It Begin?

It will start at approximately 7:30 p.m. It may last up to 7 hours.

Where will the Sacramento DUI Checkpoint be located?

North Sacramento: Del Paso Boulevard (near El Camino Avenue).

Sacramento DUI checkpoint locations are chosen based on car accident statistics as well as DUI arrest frequency in a given area.

What will officers be Looking for?

  • A valid California Driver’s License
  • Signs of drug or alcohol impairment

How will officers determine who is impaired?

Officers who are specially trained in the common signs of impairment will be looking at motorists very carefully with a flashlight and asking you a series of questions. You may be asked to take a field sobriety test if you are suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

Who Pays for the Sacramento DUI Checkpoint?

Sacramento DUI Checkpoint funding comes from a grant. The grant comes from the California Office of Traffic Safety by way of the National Highway Safety Administration.
