Warming Centers Open in the Sacramento Region

December is considered the coldest month of the year in Sacramento, with an average high of 55 degrees and a low of 40 degrees. The National Weather Channel predicts not only a cold Christmas holiday weekend but a wet one as well.

With another cold front approaching Northern California, city and county officials in Sacramento have partnered with local churches and community centers to open warming shelters for people in need of a temporary place to stay for the weekend.

The emergency walk-in warming centers open Friday nights and through the weekend for those without heat or shelter.
