Sacramento Cement Truck Accident Kills Driver

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento trucking accident lawyer. Everyone who has been behind the wheel of a motor vehicle understands that accidents can happen; however, when accidents involve heavy equipment, such as a commercial  truck, accidents can become even worse. Every accident, from a single car accident to a multi-car pileup, can leave people injured or worse; however, disaster struck near Arena Boulevard in Sacramento when a cement mixer collided with a highway median. Unfortunately, the cement truck accident left one person dead.

A Cement Mixer along Interstate 5

The infrastructure in this country is rapidly expanding as new roads are being laid while older roads are being repaired. For this reason, people everywhere need to remain vigilant as they pass through construction zones because accidents can happen. A cement truck was traveling along the road when it struck a division along the interstate 5 area. This cement truck accident occurred on Arena Boulevard in a busy area of town between interstate 80 and the Arena. It is essential that people understand what to do if they are ever involved in an accident. Fortunately, emergency services were called immediately and provide treatment of injuries, including bone fractures.

One Fatality was Reported

Unfortunately, emergency services aren’t always able to prevent people from getting hurt or injured. When the cement mixer collided with the divide on interstate 5, the driver was thrown from the cement truck and was killed. People need to remember to wear their seat belts when they are operating a motor vehicle because when the car stops, the driver and the passengers may continue to move forward at high speed. A seat belt can keep people in the car; however, people who aren’t wearing their seat belts will continue to move forward, possibly being thrown from the vehicle, leading to multiple traumatic injuries that could prove fatal.

Multiple Lanes are Shut Down

Due to the accident, two of the lanes heading north on interstate 5 have been shut down just north of the junction with interstate 80 as accident crews work to clean up the accident and repair the property that was damaged. At this time, it’s unknown when the lanes will reopen. In the meantime, people should work to find an alternate route around the traffic and exercise extreme caution as they move through the accident scene and review the traffic laws for construction zones in California.
