Sacramento Bicyclist Dies

Sacramento Man Killed in Bicycle Accident

A 25-year-old man was tragically struck and killed by a motorist on June 1, 2016.

What Happened?

A bicyclist was attempting to make a right hand turn on to French Road in South Sacramento when he was hit by a car.

The man has been identified as 25-year-old, Justin Knorr of Sacramento.

Sadly, Knorr was pronounced dead at the South Sacramento Kaiser Permanente facility.

Who Hit the Bicyclist?

A vehicle being driven by 28-year-old, Zamesha Dominique of Sacramento,  crashed into Justin Knorr, according to a California Highway Patrol press release. So far, no arrests have been made.

Bicyclist May Not Have Been Riding Fast Enough To Complete His Turn

The CHP press release indicated that Knorr was riding his bike from a driveway located east of French Road, and north of Ocatillo Street. It looked as if Knorr attempted to make a right hand turn onto French Road, but may not have been riding fast enough to safely complete the turn. As he turned, Knorr rode his bicycle straight into the path of Dominique’s vehicle, which had been traveling northbound.

Motorist Unable to Avoid the Collision

Dominique was not able to avoid hitting Knorr. The impact threw the bicyclist down onto the pavement.

Sadly, Knorr sustained severe injuries as a result of the impact. He was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the collision.

Dominique was interviewed by investigators. She was allowed to leave the crash scene.

The CHP indicated that an investigation is pending.

When one of the parties to a collision passes away, it makes it that much harder to get an accurate picture of what went wrong. This can leave the loved ones of the victim with many unanswered questions. Having the assistance of an experienced bicycle accident attorney is crucial to protect the rights of those fatally injured in bike accidents.
