Investigation to Determine Death of Rider in Bicyclist Fatality Accident

The motorist was reported as cooperating with investigators into the cause of the crash. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as contributing to the bicyclist fatality accident. The area of the bicycle crash around Taylor Road was shut down as the scene was cleared and the accident investigated. When the deceased’s family has been notified, the identity of the rider will be released by the Placer County Coroner’s Office.

Wrongful Death Claims and Recovery of Compensation

The loss of a loved one who enjoyed the outdoors and was a bicycle rider who died in an accident is always difficult. It can be especially difficult to cope with a bicyclist fatality in the family if their death was the fault of someone else. A wrongful death claim may be a good option for you if you’re having difficulty making ends meet and want justice for your loved one.

How Filing a Wrongful Death Claim Can Help

Sadly, losing a family member can be especially devastating if that death was caused by negligence on the part of another. While filing a claim for wrongful death will not ease your grief and sense of loss, it can help bring the family closure and justice as well as help them avoid the financial consequences. At-fault parties are held liable, and family members are able to recover damages through these lawsuits.

Enlisting the help of an experienced attorney is essential when filing a wrongful death lawsuit. If you have suffered the loss of a loved one, our experienced wrongful death lawyers can offer you a free evaluation of your case and help you pursue the compensation you are entitled to.

Recoverable Damages in a Wrongful Death Claim

A wrongful death lawsuit may allow you to recover the following damages:

  • Wages: In the case of a primary breadwinner, the death of your loved one could result in significant income loss. The wages the family lost, as well as any future earnings they would have received until their loved one’s retirement age, might be able to be recouped.
  • Benefits: The loss of benefits such as health insurance or retirement savings may also be recoverable in addition to lost wages.
  • Funeral and burial costs: Expenses associated with funerals and burials may also be recoverable. When you have to arrange this last minute, it can be quite expensive.
  • Non-economic losses: A loss of companionship can be challenging to quantify since it is non-economic damage. It may be possible for you to recover damages for your loss of consortium, emotional distress, lack of companionship and others caused by your loved one’s death. In addition, the family’s children may recover compensation for the loss of their parent’s nurturing and guidance.
