Rollover Accident in Ukiah Results in Deadly Trauma

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, one person lost their life after suffering injuries during a car crash in Ukiah. Police have reported that this incident occurred during the afternoon on a rural municipal road and involved a single car. The decedent’s identity is still being withheld by Mendocino County authorities, and no other individuals were reported to have been injured during the crash.

Collision Details

California Highway Patrol (CHP) says that the collision occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Main Ranch Road near the intersection located at Uva Drive. Police stated that an 82-year-old woman was driving an SUV on Main Ranch while heading west. After passing Uva, the vehicle drifted off-road and eventually drove off the northern roadway edge. Eventually, the SUV drove over an embankment, rolling several times down into a ravine. During the rollover, the driver was reportedly fully ejected from the SUV through a window.

Response

The incident was promptly reported to CHP, who immediately sent response officials out to the area. As they arrived, responders discovered the woman lying in the embankment with critical injuries. Sadly, the woman reportedly lost her life at the scene.

Investigation

The Ukiah Area CHP Office has stated that their investigators are currently looking into what could have caused this tragic collision. At this time, police haven’t mentioned any likely causes. While single-vehicle accidents might seem simple, they are frequently complex events that involve multiple causes. It is crucial to preserve the wrecked vehicle after experiencing a rollover so your attorney can hold it as evidence. Importantly, many common causes of single-vehicle accidents are not driver-controlled, meaning that drivers may not be considered at-fault for the crash. Such factors include poorly built vehicle parts, hazards in the road, and more.

Private Investigations are Important

Police faced with fatal accident investigations often have a difficult time fully understanding what caused the crash. This is largely because officers cannot interview the driver about what occurred. Unfortunately, this can mean that family members and dependents of the decedent might not be able to obtain compensation through a wrongful death claim.

To make sure your family’s right to compensation is protected, it’s critical to have help from a Ukiah wrongful death lawyer. An attorney with experience privately investigating accidents can commit their time and resources toward determining whether or not any other parties were at-fault for the collision.

Finding a Trustworthy Lawyer

The payments from wrongful death claims can be very important for families, providing them financial stability in a very difficult time. For this reason, having a lawyer you know that you can trust is very important. Sadly, many families delay reaching out to a lawyer because they aren’t sure how they will be able to find a trustworthy attorney in their area.
