Rollover Accident Seriously Injures Red Bluff Residents

Rollover Accident Severely Injures Red Bluff Residents

Two Red Bluff residents were left with serious injuries following an auto accident that took place in Tehama County on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident involved one vehicle and happened in the early evening. Both of the injured individuals were hospitalized following the crash. Additionally, the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.

Crash Information

The accident occurred at 5:20 p.m. on Green Valley Acres Drive in a rural area just off of State Route 36, around five miles west of the city of Red Bluff. According to reports, a 35-year-old woman was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle. After she lost control, the Dodge ran off of Green Valley Acres Drive and struck an embankment before overturning.

Response

After receiving a phone call reporting the crash, local officials dispatched emergency staff to the scene of the accident. Upon reaching the site, responders found both the driver and 18-year-old passenger of the vehicle had been seriously hurt. Both were driven to the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital for care. Updates on their conditions, as well as details about their injuries, have not been reported.

Investigation

As CHP continues with an investigation of possible accident causes, police have not confirmed any collision factors. Solo-vehicle crashes happen often on rural roadways and can be caused by a wide variety of common factors. Many of these factors, such as defective pickup truck parts or dangerous issues with roads, are not things drivers can control.

Rollover Accidents

Auto accidents that involve an overturned vehicle are more likely to involve major or even fatal injuries than most types of accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that auto accidents involving overturned vehicles account for over a much higher percentage of fatal crashes than collisions overall.

A key reason for the danger of rollovers is weak vehicle roofs. If the roof of a car isn’t designed properly or isn’t built with strong materials, it may not be able to keep vehicle occupants safe during an accident. If the roof of a car gives way during a crash, it can intrude into the cabin of the vehicle. Injuries caused by this are referred to as “roof crush injuries.” In many cases, the manufacturers of vehicles can be held responsible for injuries caused during accidents involving crushed roofs. To make sure you are able to hold auto manufacturers liable, it’s important to preserve your wrecked vehicle as evidence after accidents.
