Injuries Reported in Calistoga Collision Near State Park

A Calistoga collision on Monday afternoon left one person with injuries after a white Cadillac Escalade went over the side of State Route 29 on October 13. The accident happened near Old Lawley Toll Road, close to Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, around 1:09 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Driver Reports Being Forced Off the Road in Calistoga Collision

Authorities said the driver reported being forced off the roadway by another motorist in what appeared to be a road rage incident. Emergency units from Cal Fire and CHP, including engines E1487 and BC1420, responded to the scene. The driver managed to exit the vehicle without assistance, and medical personnel treated minor injuries at the scene. CHP traffic crash investigators are still working to identify the other vehicle allegedly involved in the incident.

Understanding Road Rage Liability

Under California law, road rage behaviors, such as intentionally cutting off another driver, tailgating, or forcing a vehicle off the road in a Calistoga collision, may constitute reckless driving under California Vehicle Code section 23103 or even assault if done deliberately. Legal consequences can include fines, license suspension, and potential incarceration. From a civil standpoint, those who are injured in a crash caused by aggressive driving may pursue compensation for physical injuries, emotional distress, and lost wages, as well as property damage if their auto insurance does not cover it.

Unlike ordinary accidents, road rage claims often involve accusations of intentional misconduct rather than mere negligence. This can impact how liability is proven and may allow victims to pursue punitive damages against the at-fault motorist for willful or malicious behavior.

Seeking Legal Help After a Road Rage Crash

If you or a loved one is injured in a Calistoga collision or any road rage-related incident, it’s important to consult a personal injury attorney experienced in handling aggressive driving cases. A lawyer can help secure witness statements, traffic camera footage, and CHP reports to build a strong compensation claim and ensure the responsible driver is held accountable.
