Rio Linda Man Drowning Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Rio Linda Personal Injury Attorney.  Forty-three-year-old Paul Anthony Aguirre, of Rio Linda, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, due to a drowning accident that took place in South Lake Tahoe.

What Happened?

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department stated that they received a phone call at approximately 4:49 pm by Aguirre’s family who said he was kayaking in the region of El Dorado Beach. The family members located Aguirre’s kayak and life jacket inside the kayak but were unable to find Aguirre anywhere.

South Lake Tahoe Search Efforts

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department Marine unit was dispatched and arrived at the scene within minutes after the phone call was made. Employees of the Timber Cove Marina were informed of the Aguirre’s disappearance and also assisted in the search in another boat. The Timber Cove Marina employee then located Aguirre’s body floating in the water and was not wearing a life jacket. The employees brought Aguirre inside their boat where they found him not breathing and unconscious.

South Lake Tahoe Life Recovery Efforts

The Timber Cove Marina employees gave Aguirre CPR on the boat while on route to the Timber Cove Pier. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department Marine unit officers then carried on the efforts of CPR while on the boat until the arrival of medical personnel and the South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue. Aguirre’s life recovery efforts lasted half an hour but medical personnel were not able to revive his life and Aguirre was pronounced dead. Investigators state that there is a possibility that the kayak capsized as a result of the 13 to 15 mile per hour winds. Aguirre’s cause of death will be later disclosed by a medical examiner.
