Renato Simone Plane Crash

Pittsburg CA Renato Simone Plane Crash Update

On 3 November, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released their preliminary report on the 25 October plane crash in Contra Costa County near Pittsburg. The report revealed that a flight instructor and a pilot were killed in the crash, contrasting initial reports that only one person died in the accident.

NTSB Report: Recently Installed Navigation System

The report also revealed that the plane crashed approximately 3 minutes after takeoff, potentially after clipping power lines. Although no cause of the crash was listed, the NTSB investigators suggested that the pilots may have been unfamiliar with the recently installed navigation equipment. This was the pilots’ second flight with the new navigation equipment.

Two Lives Lost in Tragic Beechcraft Bonanza Airplane

On 7 November, the Contra Costa County coroner identified the two decedents as 58-year-old Renato Simone from Danville and 67-year-old Leon Dwulet, Jr. from Orinda. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the friends and loved ones of the men who passed away in this tragic plane crash.

Summary of the Accident

On 25 October, a plane crashed along Kirker Pass Road in Pittsburg, California after taking off from Concord’s Buchanan Field. The plane crashed in a rural area shortly after takeoff, striking telephone lines and catching fire. The plane was a Beech A36.

Potential for Wrongful Death Lawsuits

With the additional information provided by these two reports, the families of Simone and Dwulet may have more material for a wrongful death lawsuit. If the navigation equipment was faulty and that caused the accident, the manufacturers may be liable for damages. More likely, however, the aircraft owners may be liable for damages for not providing adequate training on the new equipment. For more information contact an experienced wrongful death lawyer as soon as possible.
