Bicyclist Injured in Redding Accident

Officers from the Redding Police Department (RPD) stated that one person was seriously injured in a local accident on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. The injured man had been riding a bicycle when he was struck by a pickup truck on the north side of Redding. Reports stated that the man was hospitalized for his injuries, but updates on his condition have not yet been provided by medical officials.

Crash Information

Police said that the accident took place at about 3:20 p.m. close to the intersection of North Market Street and Lake Boulevard. According to reports, the bicyclist had been riding westbound on Lake Boulevard just before the accident took place. No details about how the pickup truck collided with the bicyclist have been provided by officials so far.

RPD reported that they were first notified of the crash by callers who contacted them to report a cyclist lying in the road. Officers and emergency response teams were sent to the accident location right away. When medical responders reached the area, they found that the bicyclist had suffered a head injury. Reports indicated that the bicyclist was conscious and alert before being put on an ambulance.

Investigation

RPD is currently at work investigating this collision in order to determine what factors were involved. Traffic reports show that the westbound portion of Lake Boulevard was shut down to vehicles for a period of time while responders attended to the crash scene and investigators looked for evidence of causal factors.

Bicycle accidents can be very dangerous and are often caused by a variety of factors. Some of the factors that are commonly involved in vehicle/bicycle accidents include poor lighting, dangerous roadway design, reckless driving behaviors such as speeding or DUI, and auto or bike part defects.

Recovering from a Head Injury

Head injuries are a very common accident injury. These injuries can be complex and are liable to cause a large number of symptoms depending on the individual and their specific injury. Additionally, traumatic brain injuries can take a while to develop, and may not cause serious symptoms for hours, days, or even weeks after the accident takes place. This means that injuries that don’t appear serious at first can eventually cause serious and even debilitating symptoms for crash survivors.

Recovering after a head injury can be a difficult process, especially for people who are suffering mobility or cognition issues. While the process of regaining health can be both physically painful and expensive, many people are able to do so with funds from personal injury claims. Filing a personal injury claim can help people get the payments they need to take care of medical expenses as well as things such as in-home care, lost income, and more.
