Semi Rear Ends Passenger Vehicle on S.R. 70

A rear-end collision involving a semi and motor vehicle occurred on January 3 in Marysville. The accident happened around 8:44 a.m. along northbound State Route 70 at Laurellen Road. The incident report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the semi rear-ended a vehicle and became stalled.

Semi Blocks Lanes as a Result of Rear-End Collision

Vehicles were passing in the northbound lane in the Marysville crash, creating additional traffic issues, and the semi was blocking the roadway and unable to move. A tow truck was called in to remove it. At the time of this report, injuries in the collision had not been reported. An investigation is being conducted by the CHP to determine fault in the collision.

Accidents Involving Big Rigs: How to Get Help

In the case of a rear-end collision and injuries caused by a big rig, the trucker’s employer and driver carry large insurance policies. You can rely on us to help you determine which coverage applies to your personal injury claim, review your case, gather all the necessary evidence and documents and negotiate on your behalf with the insurance company. A trucker’s negligence results in enough physical suffering and pain for you to deal with. The financial burden should not fall on you as well.

Recovering Compensation After a Rear-End Collision Caused by a Big Rig

The negligent driver can be held responsible for your medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering damages if you file a personal injury claim. In a liability case involving one of its vehicles, a company’s insurance policy usually provides at least $1 million in coverage.

In order to obtain the compensation you deserve, you should retain the services of a lawyer following an injury accident with a big rig due to the complexity of liability, the possibility of multiple insurance policies and other factors.

Common Causes of Big Rig Accidents

Negligent truck drivers can cause accidents for a number of reasons, including:

  • Speeding: Speeding is a common problem with truck drivers, who may be on a tight schedule to deliver goods and are pressured by their employers.
  • Distracted driving: It is possible for a driver to collide with another vehicle when they consult their delivery schedule or GPS directions while driving.
  • Inexperience: A new driver may not have enough experience to safely drive a big rig, especially with the large blind spots surrounding it.
  • Rear-end crashes: When a big rig is carrying a heavy load, it requires longer stopping distances, which can result in a rear-end collision.
  • Worn brakes: Brakes for a semi are expensive, and mechanical problems cause a high number of accidents. Lack of maintenance is responsible for a number of crashes. In others, the driver may disable those in the cab to make them last longer, relying instead on the trailer brakes to stop.
  • Unsafe loading: When tractor-trailers are loaded incorrectly, the load can shift when the driver makes a sharp turn or the semi is going downhill, which can cause a collision.
