The Chico Police Department has received a number of near car collisions and pedestrians that are distracted on the street. Authorities have also made responses for calls for service due to suspected burglaries, trespassers, and prowlers. Other reports state that there have been documented drivers that are distracted while driving behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while playing Pokemon Go.
What Is Pokemon Go?
Pokemon Go is a popular cartoon from the 1990s that is bringing nostalgia to its fans through its new and revamped application on smartphones. The app integrates navigation through GPS to locate Pokemon for its players to battle and catch. The game encourages exercise for individual wellness by requiring all players to move to different locations and stay alert to the screen of the device for gameplay.

Pokemon Go is a fun game to play interact and play with friends as well as meet new people. The Chico Police Department urges the players of the game to be alert in their surroundings and to take safety tips while playing. A notable safety tip that is recommended for Pokemon Go players is to avoid staying out during late-night hours, stay away from entering private properties, and entering unknown areas while alone.
