Serious Plumas County Snowmobile Accident

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, two people sustained serious injuries as the result of a Plumas County snowmobile accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the accident and reported that it took place in the early afternoon in a rural area and involved only one vehicle. The two injured individuals were identified as a 43-year-old man from Chico and a 36-year-old woman from Redding. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Accident Details

The accident happened at around 1:35 p.m. outside of the La Porte General Store off of Quincy La Porte Road. According to CHP, the Chico man was driving a snowmobile with the Redding woman sitting in front of him as a passenger. Police say that the snowmobile was moving at a speed of approximately 5 miles per hour when it suddenly accelerated, reaching speeds of around 30 miles per hour.

After accelerating, the snowmobile sideswiped a metal railing in front of the general store and both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle. Both individuals landed on the store’s concrete porch.

Response

When emergency medical responders reached the scene, they found that the Redding woman had sustained serious injuries including knee and wrist fractures as well as possible internal trauma. She was placed on a helicopter ambulance and flown to the Enloe Medical Center in Chico to receive emergency care. The driver reportedly suffered injuries to his left knee and head but declined medical attention at the accident site. Updates on the conditions of the involved parties have not yet been reported.

Accident Injuries

Suffering an injury during a vehicle accident can be very serious. In many cases, survivors of major auto accidents face a long, difficult road to regaining their health that can involve extensive medical procedures including invasive surgeries, long-term physical therapy, medication usage, and more. Sadly, all of these things can be highly expensive and crash survivors may be left with huge medical bills. Paying for the necessary care for your recovery can be hard, especially if your trauma has made it impossible for you to earn an income.

Getting Help

Fortunately, individuals who’ve suffered a serious accident injury can often claim compensation to cover their losses by filing a personal injury claim. Not only are crash survivors able to seek compensation for medical bills and lost income, but these claims also often include payments for personal suffering, damaged property, and more.

However, insurance companies and at-fault parties frequently attempt to avoid paying injured individuals the compensation that they deserve. For this reason, it’s important that you contact a Chico personal injury lawyer as soon as you are able to after suffering serious injuries during a vehicle accident.
