Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident Identified

I’m Ed Smith, a Wrongful Death Lawyer in Sacramento. A pedestrian who lost their life on Christmas Day in a tragic hit-and-run accident has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Clifford Lewis.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the friends and family Mr. Lewis during their time of loss.

What Happened?

Officers from the Sacramento Police Department were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, police found an injured pedestrian lying unconscious at the intersection of Freeport Boulevard and Florin Road in South Sacramento.

Nature of Injuries

Emergency responders were unable to resuscitate Lewis. Officials, sadly, pronounced him deceased at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested

Law enforcement later apprehended a 20-year-old man found in a vehicle suspected of involvement with the hit-and-run that claimed the life of Clifford Lewis. He has been booked on charges of felony hit-and-run with death or injury, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence (DUI). The young man was denied bail and may face additional charges as prosecutors review the evidence.

Insurance in Hit-and-Run Accidents

When the identity of a hit-and-run party is unknown, victims may need to resort to their own automobile insurance policy for compensation. If you have suffered injuries in a hit-and-run accident, you may be able to recover through your own Uninsured/Under-Insured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM). This type of coverage may offer you compensation for your losses caused by a negligent driver. This benefit may also extend to protect policyholders in the event of a guilty party having minimal policy limits to cover incurred losses.

Personal Injury and Wrongful Death Claims

When you or your loved one has been injured in an accident, you are entitled to recover damages through a personal injury or wrongful death claim. An experienced accident lawyer will be able to help you preserve evidence, file the appropriate paperwork, and deal with insurance adjusters so that you can focus on healing and spending time with your family. If you need help dealing with the aftermath of an accident, schedule a consultation with a wrongful death lawyer in Sacramento to discuss your case.
