Corabel Lane Accident Injury Caused by Fleeing Driver

A pedestrian injury occurred recently in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver. The collision, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) happened around 7:32 in the evening along Corabel Lane between Marconi and El Camino avenues. Police with the CHP are seeking a dark sedan that was responsible for the pedestrian accident. At the time of this report, it is unknown how seriously the pedestrian was injured.

Dealing With a Fleeing Driver Following a Pedestrian Injury

Just as local authorities are searching for the fleeing driver that left a pedestrian injured, our law office does our best to locate that motorist too. We have a good record of locating a hit-and-run driver due to our resources and experience in doing so. Our experienced investigators go to work right away to find the motorist.

When they are located, their insurance can cover an injured client’s injuries. Lacking insurance, the at-fault party can be taken to court to recover the damages our client deserves. Some of the areas in which an investigation is conducted include:

  • The investigators head directly to the scene of the pedestrian injury accident to gather evidence.
  • Accident reconstruction is performed, which shows the positions of the pedestrian and motor vehicle before, during and after the accident. This includes taking photos and gathering evidence such as pieces of the auto that broke off and paint flecks, which can help identify the make and model of the vehicle.
  • Photo evidence is sought from nearby businesses, road, and traffic surveillance cameras. It can help identify the vehicle, and in some cases, might even capture the license plate number.
  • The police report is reviewed to ensure its accuracy.
  • Witnesses to the pedestrian injury accident are interviewed because they may have a description of the vehicle or even the driver. Recalling even part of the license plate number is helpful.

Once the evidence is gathered and the fleeing driver is located, our injury attorneys can go to work to use all that information to construct a strong case for the benefit of our client’s compensation claim. It covers all of their medical expenses, including those that are out of pocket, the wages they lost from being unable to work and reimburses them for their pain and suffering. We firmly believe that no one should be held financially responsible for an accident caused by someone else’s negligent actions.

Covering Your Accident Expenses With Insurance

If the hit-and-run driver cannot be located, a person who’s been injured has the option of using their policy for uninsured/underinsured drivers to cover their expenses. This add-on insurance policy is offered as optional when drivers elect to purchase auto coverage. If the injured person does not have this policy, but another member of the household does, they can use that to cover their damages. Placing a claim on an uninsured/underinsured policy does not affect the rates.
