Pedestrian Injury Collision Occurs at Chenu Way Intersection

Investigation Being Conducted in Pedestrian Injury Collision

The pedestrian was reported to have suffered major injuries in the accident and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Southbound Watt Avenue was blocked as the scene was cleared. Information has not been released on the cause of the crash. An investigation into the cause is underway by the South Sacramento CHP traffic collision unit.

Types of Pedestrian Intersection Accident Negligence

It is estimated that more than half of traffic collisions occur at intersections. Pedestrians and bicycle riders compound the situation further at these locations since traffic congregates from many directions. It is important for road users to pass through intersections safely. However, negligence and other factors can result in serious collisions. The following factors often cause intersection crashes:

  • Running a red light will most likely result in an intersection crash.
  • When a driver speeds at an intersection, he or she cannot slow down or stop in time to avoid hitting another vehicle, contributing to many accidents.
  • In addition to their poor reflexes, judgment, and inability to track their eyes, drunk drivers cause many serious accidents at intersections. Because of this, intoxicated drivers pose a danger to other road users.
  • A risky right turn can be made without seeing to the left because of vehicles waiting at the crosswalk.
  • Turning left before the arrow changes can result in an accident involving oncoming traffic.
  • Road negligence can lead to an intersection accident. Maintenance is typically the responsibility of a government entity. You have six months to file a government claim, or the case will not be heard. Enlisting the help of an accident attorney can ensure that the paperwork is filed properly.
