Recourse for Pedestrians Injured in Hit-and-Run Accidents

A head injury from a pedestrian accident may be traumatic and life-changing, especially if it has caused significant hardship for the injured party and their family. When a pedestrian has suffered this type of injury because of someone else’s negligence, they may be entitled to financial compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses in connection to the crash. However, if the incident occurred because of a hit-and-run driver, this may present unique challenges for the injured party.

In personal injury cases involving hit-and-run drivers, injured parties may seek recourse through their insurance provider if they have uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage (UM and UIM). UM protection will come into play when it has been proven that an insured has suffered injuries in an accident because of a driver who fled the scene. What is great about this type of coverage is that it may also extend to other household members so long as they are not excluded members of the insurance plan.

Many types of injuries from pedestrian accidents require long-term medical treatment that may be quite expensive. For this reason, no injured party deserves to cover these expenses when another party or entity has caused them such harm. An experienced attorney will determine the best options for recourse with an injured party and their family and what is needed to fairly compensate them for their losses. Contacting an Attorney After a Pedestrian Accident

Not all signs of a head injury are immediately apparent following a serious pedestrian accident. If you or a loved one has suffered trauma to the head after a crash, be sure to seek medical attention right away to have a physician document your injuries and set you on the right path to recovery. When a head injury is left untreated, it may result in severe consequences.

Once you have sought medical treatment, it is essential to discuss your case with an experienced personal injury attorney. Be sure to contact an injury lawyer with years of experience handling cases like yours, as they will understand the effects accident-related injuries may have on your mental and physical health, including head injuries. The attorney will evaluate your personal injury case and negotiate with the insurance company for the fair compensation you deserve.
