Details on the Corn Truck Crash That Left a Pedestrian Injured

Officials indicated that a 59-year-old man was walking in the area when he was reportedly struck by a corn truck. Fire crews and first responders were requested at the scene to provide assistance. CHP traffic officers reported that SR-4 at Walnut Boulevard was shut down for a medical helicopter to land in a field.

According to authorities, the corn truck driver allegedly took off following the pedestrian accident in Brentwood. It was unclear whether the driver will face charges in connection with the incident. Additional information, including what led up to the truck accident and the severity of reported injuries, was not immediately available.

Things to Know About Pedestrian Accident Cases

A pedestrian accident may result in serious injuries for those involved, particularly when a large truck is involved. This may include traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, spinal cord injuries, amputations, internal trauma, and more. When the crash was the result of a negligent driver or entity, they may be held liable for resulting losses. An injured party may accomplish this by filing a personal injury claim against them and their insurance carrier. Some of the damages that may be sought through these cases include pain and suffering, lost income, diminished quality of life, and medical bills.

While we would all like to think that the insurance carrier is there to simplify the recovery process for us after a life-changing accident, the reality is that dealing with them may be nearly as stressful and overwhelming as the incident itself was. Insurers are in the business of maximizing profit margins, and accomplishing that often requires devaluing or denying claims. This may put injured pedestrians just like you in a vulnerable situation, particularly when dealing with mounting medical bills and time missed at work to recover from accident-related injuries.
