How Can a Family Find Justice?

The compassionate injury attorneys at our firm have handled many wrongful death claims successfully and are able to help your family receive the compensation they deserve.

Recovering Compensation Following an Accident

In the aftermath of a pedestrian fatality accident caused by negligence, family members can file a wrongful death lawsuit to seek financial reparation. A decedent’s dependents include the spouse, children, and stepchildren who received more than 50 percent of the decedent’s support. Compensation can include:

  • It is possible to recover burial and funeral expenses.
  • The decedent’s pension and insurance benefits, as well as future support, can be recovered.
  • Losses of affection, consortium, comfort and moral support can be recovered by a surviving spouse or putative spouse.
  • Additionally, the estate recovers losses from household services, such as lawn care, maintenance and childcare.
  • The children, deprived of instruction, care and guidance, can claim this loss.
  • In some claims, the beneficiaries can recover the loss of inheritance, which is what they would have received if the decedent had lived.
  • An egregious or intentional death may give rise to punitive damages in a survival action. When a decedent lived for some time before dying, it is called a survival action.
