Medical crews and personnel from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) were called to the scene and provided treatment to the pedestrian for injuries described as life-threatening.
A medical helicopter was requested at the scene of the car vs. pedestrian accident to transport the injured man to a local hospital for immediate treatment. Officials last reported that he was listed in critical and stable condition. Due to the severity of the injuries involved in the incident, the Pittsburg PD Traffic Unit has taken over the investigation.
Authorities said that the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was reported to be cooperative with the investigation.
