Pedestrian Accident Critically Injures Man
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto pedestrian accident attorney. A man was walking in West Modesto during the early evening hours on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Unfortunately, a motor vehicle hit him causing him to suffer major injuries.
A man was walking along Sutter Avenue in the vicinity of Faustino Avenue. When for reasons that are not known, an automoble (a Honda) traveling southbound along Sutter Avenue crashed into the man. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for critical injuries due to the impact of the collision. Authorities believe he may be in his fifties but have not released his identity.

As you may see in the following video, authorities are investigating the cause of the pedestrian accident. Although a cause has not yet been determined by investigators, they think the time of day may have contributed to this accident.
Pedestrian Accidents in Modesto
Pedestrian accidents are collisions involving motor vehicles that injure or kill pedestrians. In a 2013 report conducted by the California Office of Traffic Safety, the following statistics conclude the number of pedestrians injured and killed in these accidents in the city of Modesto are as follows:
- Pedestrian Injuries and Fatalities in Total: 72
- Pedestrians under the age of 15: 12
- Pedestrians over the age of 65: 6
The report also indicated that there were 89 hit-and-run accidents in the city of Modesto.
