Modesto Fatal Pedestrian Accident
I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto Auto Accident Attorney. A vehicle struck a pedestrian in Modesto during the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Sadly, the pedestrian passed away as a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident.
What Happened?
The Modesto Police Department reported that a car struck a pedestrian at approximately 5:45 am on the block of 3100 McHenry Avenue. The pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart to the south of McHenry Avenue at the time of the crash. The female pedestrian had been crossing Woodrow and Rumble avenues when she was struck down by a vehicle. The vehicle was identified as a 2014 Nissan Altima driven by 40-year-old Roberto Mendoza. Mendoza stopped at the scene of the accident. He also answered questions and cooperated with authorities investigating the crash.
Who Was the Victim?
The victim was later identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Sarah Getreu. She was 45-years-old.
What Caused the Accident?
It is still too soon to know. Investigators believe lack of sunlight may have contributed to the car crash.
