Man Killed in Oroville Crash

According to local authorities, one man lost his life during an auto accident that took place in Oroville on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. The man was identified the following day as Dwayne Tamayo, an employee of Butte College who had been working there for over six years. Authorities indicated that the car wreck only involved a single vehicle and took place at night. I would like to express my sincere condolences to Mr. Tomayo’s friends and family members while they are grieving over their sudden and tragic loss.

Crash Information

Butte College’s Campus Police Department reported that the single-vehicle collision happened at about 9:00 p.m. Tomayo had been driving a work truck on campus when his vehicle suddenly veered off the road for unknown reasons. After his vehicle exited the road, it collided with a nearby fence, causing minor damage to the vehicle. The collision was spotted by an accident witness and promptly reported to the police.

Police sent emergency response staff to the site of the crash immediately. When they arrived, they discovered that Tomayo had been severely injured. Sadly, he could not be helped and passed away at the scene of the incident. According to reports, no other individuals were injured during the accident.

Investigation & Necessity of Quick Action

Authorities are actively investigating this accident in order to determine what may have caused it. It is important to note that traffic collision reports sometimes contain errors. Other factors that are commonly involved in collisions like this one include driving a vehicle with inadequate safety features, hazardous defects in the roadway, poor lighting, and more. It is important to contact an attorney who can conduct a wrongful death investigation to determine if another person or entity was responsible for a single-vehicle collision fatality. Sometimes mechanical problems with the vehicle, a phantom car (hit-and-run driver), or problems with the roadway surface or an uneven paved edge can contribute to someone’s death. Quick action to begin an investigation and look at the evidence before it is lost, destroyed, or covered up is essential. Claims against public entities have a reduced amount of time to bring a claim. It is typically only six months or 180 days. Contact an experienced personal injury attorney for more information.

The Cost of Fatal Accidents

After a fatal crash, families can be left in a very difficult place. Not only do people need to learn how to cope with their grief and continue living their lives without the presence of a loved one, but losing a family member can come with serious financial concerns as well. Many times, the decedent of an accident is the main income earner in their household, and their family relies on their support. In other cases, the decedent provided their family with valuable services like cleaning, home repair, and more.

These issues can feel overwhelming, but the families of people who are fatally injured during auto accidents can often receive compensation to cover these costs. This is done by filing a wrongful death claim, which seeks to claim payments from negligent parties and/or insurance companies in order to ensure that families receive the funds they need to continue living their lives. If you want to know whether or not you have a viable wrongful death claim, the best thing you can do is to speak personally with an Oroville wrongful death lawyer. An experienced lawyer can provide you with the information you need to take your next steps and most offer free phone consultations.
