Hazel Avenue Accident Involves Fleeing Driver

A hit-and-run in Orangevale on March 20 resulted in injuries. The accident happened at the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Greenback Lane around 11:48 p.m., trapping one person in their vehicle. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the collision involved a Nissan 4-door, Toyota Prius and Kia and blocked the northbound lanes of Hazel Avenue and that glass was strewn all over the roadway.

Good Samaritan Helps With Clearing the Lanes

A pedestrian in the southbound lane apparently attempted to help by clearing the debris from the roadway. One of the drivers involved in the crash, described as wearing a red sweater and white pants, was last seen heading east on Greenback Lane. The Nissan sustained major damage to its front and on the left-hand side.

Hit-and-Run Being Investigated to Locate Missing Driver

A Sac Fire crew arrived at the scene to assess injuries and to extricate the trapped driver from their vehicle. The CHP is currently investigating the accident to discover how it occurred and to locate the driver who fled the scene.

The Search for a Hit-and-Run Driver

Our investigators have tracked down hit-and-run drivers in many cases over the years. It is important to find a driver who has fled after an accident so that injured parties can collect compensation. An investigation to locate that driver includes:

  • In order to locate the driver, it is crucial to identify the vehicle that fled the scene. Investigators look for smears of paint and metal fragments on the scene and take photographs. In addition to helping identify the type of vehicle, those items can also help determine the year it was produced.
  • Police accident reports are reviewed by investigators to make sure they are accurate. The client may not be able to file a claim for compensation if an error is made.
  • When a hit-and-run accident occurs, surveillance cameras at nearby businesses and on traffic lights are checked. Using recovered footage of the accident, we can identify the vehicle responsible for causing the hit-and-run accident.
  • Witnesses of the accident are interviewed by investigators. In many cases, witnesses have details regarding the vehicle that left the scene. They may also be able to describe or identify the driver. Witnesses have also documented accidents as they occurred on their cell phones.
  • Accident reconstruction may demonstrate how the crash occurred, how the cars were positioned beforehand and the final location of the cars afterward.

We build a case for compensation for our clients based on the evidence gathered by our injury lawyers.

Injuries Can Be Covered by Insurance

An injured party may be able to recover compensation from their uninsured/underinsured coverage if the suspect driver was identified but had no money to pay for the accident injuries. This add-on policy is offered to all California auto insurance policyholders, and many choose to buy it. The injured party’s family member may be able to provide this coverage if they do not have access to it. It will not affect the policy rates.
