Accident at Morse Avenue Intersection Involves Two-Vehicle Collision

A crash at an intersection occurred in Sacramento on April 26 that ended up with one person being transported to a hospital. The accident happened at the intersection of Morse Avenue and Arden Way around 10:16 a.m. in the Arden-Arcade area and involved two vehicles. The incident report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that the eastbound lane of Arden Way was blocked at the intersection by the crash.

Injured Party Taken to Hospital With Undescribed Injuries

One injured party was transported by medical responders to Mercy San Juan Medical Center before police arrived. No information was released on the condition of that patient. The intersection accident is being investigated to discover how it transpired and to assign fault to the negligent driver.

An Intersection Crash Is Often Serious

When vehicles, motorcycles and bicycle riders along with pedestrians come together in the same location, it’s almost a recipe for accidents. That helps explain why over half of traffic collisions happen in intersections. Here are a few reasons why intersections are dangerous:

  • Left turns: When you turn left just as the arrow changes, you could collide with another vehicle. When the green light turns on, traffic rushes into the intersection quickly, so drivers trying to turn left risk striking another car.
  • Rear-end crashes: Rear-end collisions at intersections are common. Drivers are distracted by their phones, texting, or talking to passengers, oblivious to the traffic around them.
  • Risky rights: Risky right turns are associated with some intersection accidents. The driver must also pay attention to pedestrians and bicyclists crossing at the same time, as well as other vehicles waiting at the intersection. Sadly, some drivers look to their left before turning and forget about checking the right, which can result in serious intersection crashes.
  • Red-light runners: The most common cause of an intersection crash is a motorist who runs a red light or stop sign. Many of these drivers are traveling at high speeds and are unable to stop. At night, there may be less traffic passing through the intersection, and people are less likely to feel compelled to stop.
  • U-turns: A U-turn at an intersection can lead to a crash. In some intersections, U-turns are permitted, but if one is made in an area where they are prohibited, it is likely to cause an accident, as other drivers do not expect one to occur.

Obtaining Compensation Following an Intersection Crash Injury

When you file a claim for personal injury after being injured in a crash at an intersection as a result of someone else’s negligence, you may be entitled to recover the following compensation:

  • Medical costs: In addition to the ambulance, hospitalization, testing, medications, and surgeries that follow your accident, all other medical expenses caused by the collision can be recovered. An amount for future injuries is included in the claim if there is a continuation of the injury.
  • Wages: Wages you lost because you couldn’t work is recoverable, including pension and insurance. Because some people take vacation time while they are healing, that is recoverable too. Those who are self-employed can use tax records to calculate their earnings loss.
  • Pain and suffering: Whether you’ve suffered physical, psychological or emotional pain, compensation can be obtained.
