One Person Killed During Vallejo Auto Accident

On Friday, October 30, 2020, one person sadly lost their life during an auto accident in Vallejo. Information released by the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) indicated that the accident only involved a single vehicle and left three people with serious injuries in addition to the decedent. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office has not yet reported the identity of the fatally injured passenger. Additionally, this accident remains under VPD investigation.

Crash Details

VPD reports indicate that the accident happened at around 12:19 a.m. near the intersection of Sonoma Boulevard and Lewis Brown Drive on the northwestern side of the city. Police reported that a vehicle was traveling at high speeds heading west on Lewis Brown Drive when the driver apparently lost control. The vehicle veered off-road and crashed directly into a nearby traffic pole, causing major damage to the car’s chassis.

Response

Police were dispatched to the location of the incident shortly after it took place. When responders found the wreck, they discovered that all four occupants of the vehicle had suffered serious trauma. All of the individuals were rushed to local hospitals via ambulance to be given medical attention. Tragically, one of the passengers succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased while in hospital care. Updates on the conditions of the injured individuals have not yet been made available.

Investigation and Arrest

While the accident is still being investigated, VPD has indicated that they placed the driver under arrest at the scene of the crash before releasing him into hospital custody. The driver, a 22-year-old resident of San Rafael, was charged with a felony count of driving under the influence as well as a count of driving without a license.

As their investigation continues, police are looking into other possible causes of the accident. Often, solo-vehicle accidents happen for multiple factors and many of these can be non-driver causes. Such factors include dangerous problems with roads, defective car parts, and more.
