Palermo Rollover Kills One

One person tragically lost their life during a Palermo rollover that happened on Saturday, December 28, 2019. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly currently withholding the identity of the decedent until their family has been properly notified about the accident. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), only one vehicle was involved in the crash, and no other individuals suffered any injuries as a result of the incident. The collision remains under CHP investigation.

Crash Details

The accident happened in the morning at an unreported location within Palermo. Officers indicated that the driver of a white-colored sedan apparently lost control of their vehicle, driving off the road as a result. As the sedan exited the road, it overturned. Eventually, the sedan came to a rest on the driver’s side in a grassy area off the side of the road. Photos of the crash show significant damage to the vehicle’s front end.

CHP dispatched first responders to the collision scene immediately. Upon reaching the accident site, emergency officials found that the driver was injured and trapped inside their wrecked vehicle. Responders called for a helicopter ambulance, and firefighters extricated the driver from the vehicle using special machinery before attempting to administer life-saving procedures. According to reports, medics gave the driver CPR for twenty minutes but were tragically unable to save them. The driver was pronounced deceased on-scene.

Investigation

As CHP officers continue conducting a full investigation into what may have caused the accident, no likely factors have been mentioned in reports. Single-vehicle accidents are very common and are liable to be caused by multiple factors. These often include defective vehicle parts, hazards in the road, and more.

In cases like this one, it can be very difficult for police to understand what caused the collision because none of the involved individuals can tell them what happened. To make sure that the accident is investigated thoroughly and with your family’s right to compensation as a priority, it’s important to contact a local wrongful death lawyer. A good attorney will know how to privately investigate the crash in order to determine what parties may be liable to cover damages.

Palermo Rollover Accidents

When vehicles overturn, occupants are put into serious danger. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that rollovers makeup about two percent of car accidents overall but account for nearly ten percent of fatality collisions. Part of the reason that these accidents are more dangerous than other types of crashes is that rollovers often cause roof crush injuries. These injuries happen when vehicle roofs are unable to withstand an impact. In many cases, auto manufacturers are financially liable when the roofs of their vehicles fail to keep occupants safe.
