One Critically Injured During Fairfield Auto Accident
One person was left with serious injuries following a car accident that took place in Fairfield on Thursday, May 23, 2019. The accident happened on the north side of the city and involved two vehicles, a sedan and a pickup truck. According to the Fairfield Police Department (FPD), two more individuals suffered minor trauma during the collision. Updates on the condition of the critically injured man have not yet been provided by hospital staff. Additionally, this accident remains under active investigation by FPD.
Crash Details
The collision took place at around 10:45 a.m. One man had been driving a Honda Accord west on Manuel Campos Parkway. Authorities say that he had been driving at a high rate of speed when he used the right-hand shoulder of the road to pass vehicles stopped at the intersection of Paradise Valley Road. The Honda continued through a red light and struck a Dodge Ram pickup truck navigating the intersection. The impact of the accident caused the Honda to roll over multiple times, severely damaging the vehicle. Photos taken of the accident scene show the Honda almost completely crumpled. Additionally, police reports indicated that the pickup truck was also severely damaged during the collision.
Response
Response officials arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after it occurred. They discovered that the Honda driver was trapped inside of his vehicle. Emergency personnel extricated the man from the wrecked car and had him transported by ambulance to the NorthBay Medical Center to receive treatment for severe injuries.
Responders found two individuals inside of the pickup truck, neither with visible injuries. However, both individuals complained of pain. Whether or not they were given treatment at the scene of the accident or taken to a hospital for further screening was not reported.
