Multiple Injuries Reported in Oakland Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on Broadway

An Oakland pedestrian hit-and-run left several people injured recently when a suspected drunken driver struck multiple people near Oakland Technical High School’s upper campus in Rockridge. According to the Oakland Police Department, officers were called to Broadway between Clifton Street and Coronado Avenue around 7:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle colliding with several pedestrians. When authorities arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from injuries.

Paramedics transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment, though officials declined to release the number of victims or the severity of their conditions. Police also have not yet said whether those struck were in a crosswalk or on the sidewalk.

Alcohol May Have Factored Into the Cause of the Collision

Investigators said the driver fled the scene after the collision but was located a short time later and taken into custody. While the suspect’s name has not been released, police noted that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
