New Revolutionary Helmets for Motorcyclists

Heads Up Displays for Motorcycle Helmets

It was recently announced that a company is working on a new helmet that can change the way people ride motorcycles. Over the past few years, one of the most important goals has been to improve motorcycle safety. This includes motorcycle helmets. Advances in motorcycle helmets have protected riders from suffering severe injuries, such as TBIs. Now a new technology called heads up display is taking it one step further.

This technological advance will make motorcycles far safer than ever before. With the information provided by heads up displays, riders will be more aware of their surroundings, allowing them to adjust to changes in riding conditions more quickly.

What are Heads Up Displays?

A heads up display (HUD), is a transparent display that provides the user with critical data relating to their equipment and surroundings. What makes a HUD unique is that it is displayed directly in front of the eyes. The user does not have to look away to gather this information. Because the data is transparent, it does not obstruct someone’s view.

Heads up displays have been developed with maximum safety in mind. It will ensure that the eyes won’t have to focus on the screen and then refocus on the road. This technology has been engineered to adapt to the rider’s eyes.

What Information is Provided by a Heads Up Display?

Heads up displays can provide many types of information in a motorcycle helmet. Some of the data could include:

  • Navigation: Riders might be able to see turn-by-turn directions displayed right in front of their eyes. This could include a map, speed limits, accident information, construction advisories, and more. This will keep everyone’s eyes focused on the road instead of looking down at the phone.
  • Music: Those who like to listen to music while riding should be able to see the track, artist, and title in their heads up display. The music could be played from sources such as a phone, Google Play, Spotify, and more.
  • Communication: Many people receive calls while driving; however, they would like to be safer about doing so. This is one of the primary purposes of a heads up display. Think of this as an integrated headset. A heads up display can receive phone calls without the person ever having to look down at the phone.

As this technology continues to develop, riders should be able to customize and tailor the information to meet their needs.

Improving Motorcycle Safety

Heads up displays represent only one of the numerous technologies that have changed the way people ride motorcycles. These technologies are being developed to improve motorcycle safety. By focusing on safety, accidents, and traumatic injuries can be prevented.

If these heads up displays can incorporate themselves seamlessly into motorcycle helmets, riders will have access to more information than ever before. This will improve their decision-making abilities, protecting themselves and others on the road.
